Just leaving this here. We had the pleasure of spending a wonderful week in Malta, staying at Felix Apartments in Valletta.

Our host provided us with some of the most detailed and useful information we’ve ever received. We tried many of the suggestions ourselves, and I believe the tips are worth sharing with anyone visiting Valletta.

This isn’t a thoroughly edited post, it’s simply the messages our host sent us before we arrived, adapted into a website-friendly format and accompanied by some of our own photos. I’ve removed anything related to the apartment itself and kept only the tips for Valletta and Malta.

Hopefully, they won’t mind that I’m sharing the discounts and deals they provided with promotion codes. Huge shoutout to them, we highly recommend staying at Felix Apartments when visiting Malta.

Valletta Local Recommendations

Valletta is a tiny City and you can walk across it in 10mins if the hills and steps don’t slow you down.

Parking

We do not have private parking but parking is free in Valletta in any WHITE space you are lucky to find and with Valletta being so tiny, you are never more than 10 mins from your car.

Alternatively there is MCP carpark just outside Valletta.

Bus service

The main bus terminus in Malta is just outside the city entrance and you may check schedules here https://www.publictransport.com.mt/bus-timetable-library

Ferries

There are 2 ferry services; One to Sliema and another to 3 Cities. Both will have you at your destination in 15mins and you may see the schedule here: https://www.vallettaferryservices.com/

Restaurants in Valletta

  • Try Legligin for a tasting menu of local and Mediterranean dishes.
  • If you like fish, Valletta St Paul ( Valletta’s best kept secret… Nothing fancy but unpretentious and genuine).
  • If you’d like to try Rabbit, our traditional dish, Beati Paoli in St Paul Street makes the best in my opinion.
  • Harbour Club for lovely service in with an amazing view of the Grand Harbour. They should be serving on the terrace if the weather is good.
  • Cockneys on the other side, near the Sliema ferry, with the view of Sliema.

You’re spoilt for choice and most restaurants have a menu outside so, no surprises.

Due to the many tourists in Valletta at any given time, we recommend you make a reservation to avoid disappointment. Although many restaurants are open all day, peak times are 12.00-1500h at lunchtime And 18.00-23.00h dinnertime (last orders usually 22.30h)

Beaches

You can swim in Valletta on the rocky beach just under the Great Siege Bell.

Most other beaches are reachable by bus. See link below. https://www.maltauncovered.com/travel-guide/best-beaches/

Other Information That Might Be Useful While in Valletta

LUGGAGE STORAGE

We do not have secure luggage storage facility and recommend THE CAPITAL Souvenir Shop in front of Parliament Building for luggage storage at reasonable prices.

TAP WATER

Tap water in Malta is recycled tap water and although technically safe to drink, it is not recommendable as it tastes awful. We provide a bit to get you started and you may buy bottled water from the supermarket next door.
