How long is the Budapest–Copenhagen flight time? How long does it take to fly from Budapest to Copenhagen? How many hours is the flight? Here’s the length of the Budapest–Copenhagen route.
There are plenty of ways to get from Budapest to Copenhagen—and back. At the time of writing, four airlines operate nonstop flights (Wizz Air, Ryanair, Norwegian, SAS), with some carriers flying multiple times per day (click through to search prices directly). In some cases it can also make sense to travel with a connection.
Budapest–Copenhagen Flight Time
- Budapest–Copenhagen (BUD–CPH) nonstop: 1 hr 30 min to 1 hr 50 min.
- With a connection: 4–6 hours total travel time.
Budapest–Copenhagen With a Connection
Even with 4–5 daily flights, connecting itineraries between the Hungarian and Danish capitals can be worth considering—we’ve actually done it three times in recent months.
On certain dates (often around school holidays) even the nonstop flights sell out, leaving a connection as the only option. Or you may need to travel at a specific time of day, and for various reasons the BUD–CPH flights often run in the afternoon/evening. If you need a morning arrival for business, a connection can be the practical choice.
The most “logical” connection is Berlin, which lies directly on the route and, with a good transfer, adds the least extra time. Vienna, Brussels, Frankfurt, and Munich can also offer solid connections.
What Affects the Budapest–Copenhagen Flight Duration?
Primarily whether you fly nonstop or connect somewhere.
Nonstops typically take 1 hr 30 min–1 hr 50 min, depending on winds and air traffic. Because many departures are in the afternoon/evening, delays are unfortunately fairly common—plan for that.
Connections can still be surprisingly efficient. I once had to reach Copenhagen for an early afternoon meeting and ended up going via Brussels: the flight left Budapest at 7:00 am, and by 11:30 the connection had already landed in Copenhagen.
So even with a layover, you can keep total travel time in the 4–6 hour range.
Also factor in getting to the airport, at least 1–2 hours for check-in/security before departure, and getting from the airport into the city. Getting from Copenhagen Airport to the city is quick, though do expect long lines at CPH when departing.
