Imagine being hungry and a sizzling platter of short ribs is set before you. You can hardly wait for the sizzle to stop so you can dig into the plate and bite into succulent slices of grilled beef ribs dripping in special sauces.
We checked out the newly-opened Grillin’ Salads & Steaks located at the ground floor of Saipan Ocean View Hotel past lunchtime on Saturday noon. We wasted no time in delving into the menu and I ordered the Short Ribs for $8.95, one of the restaurant’s grilled specials. My companions went for the fried chicken classic and several trips to the unlimited salad bar where fresh greens abound.
Our order came within a few minutes and we attacked our plates with gusto.
Grillin’s specialties range from $7.95 and up. The menu includes Gus’ Fave (Pusit A La Pobre), sizzling squid marinated with Grillin’s special sauce and topped with lots of garlic.
The Catch of the day is fresh fish grilled to perfection with your choice of lemon and butter sauce or finadeni (soy sauce with onions, lemon and hot pepper). You could go for the chicken inasal, Prawns A-La-Pobre, Pork Chops in a special marinade grilled to thrill your taste buds, Crispy pata, fried chicken classic, pan-fried breaded seafood combo of shrimp, squid and mussels or fish, chicken teriyake or hamburger steak, or go for the ultimate with the Certified Angus Grilled Rib Eye steak or sirloin steak
Start lunch or dinner with a choice from the selection of soups like cream of vegetable, chicken soup and chef’s special, for $3.95, or go for the all-you-can-eat salad bar for $7.95. When you order one main entrée, you can avail of the salad bar for $4.99.
All items from the grill are served with seasonal vegetables and your choice of steamed rice, baked potatoes, french fries, mancho potato, macaroni salad, corn on the cob and salad greens.
Not that hungry? Try Grillin’s pasta, sandwiches, or hamburger specials for $6.95.
Grillin’ presents a comfortable ambiance for diners. For groups who want to hold breakfast, lunch or dinner conferences, Grillin’ has two VIP rooms which can accommodate up to 30 persons.
Grillin’ is open for breakfast from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m., lunch from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner from 6 to 9 p.m. For reservations, call 233-0808.
